Yorkshire Roots – Behind the Scenes at Wicstun Distillery

Wicstun Distillery Stills

Here at Wicstun Distillery, we believe great spirits start with passion, patience, and a proper Yorkshire work ethic. But what actually goes on behind the scenes to bring a bottle of gin, vodka, or rum to your glass? Let’s lift the curtain and give you a peek into our world.

A family-run distillery

Wicstun Distillery isn’t a faceless distillery. We’re a family-run business, and that means every decision, from choosing botanicals to designing labels, is made with care. We produce all our spirits in small batches, ensuring quality control at every stage. That’s what keeps our gin crisp, our vodka smooth, and our rum bold.

It’s not just about making spirits — it’s about making our spirits. Each bottle represents our pride in Yorkshire and our love of creating drinks that people genuinely enjoy.

From still to sip

The process begins with carefully sourced ingredients. For our gins, that means juniper, citrus peels, and unique local botanicals (like the watercress and cucumber grown in Pickering for our newest gin). Our vodkas are distilled to achieve a clean, pure flavour, while our rums are crafted with warming spice and depth.

The key is patience. Distilling isn’t something you rush. Each batch is monitored from start to finish, ensuring balance and character shine through. Once bottled, it’s hand-labelled and ready for you to enjoy — a true labour of love.

Cocktail spotlight: Classic Gin & Tonic

Sometimes the simple things are the best. Our Dry Gin makes a perfect G&T — clean, crisp, and utterly refreshing.

🍹 Wicstun Dry Gin & Tonic

  • 50ml Wicstun Dry Gin

  • 150ml premium tonic water

  • Lemon wheel to garnish

  • Ice

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour over the gin, top with tonic, and garnish with a slice of lemon. Easy, timeless, and perfect every time.

Why it matters

When you drink a Wicstun spirit, you’re not just enjoying a fine drink — you’re supporting a Yorkshire business that pours heart and soul into every bottle. Behind the scenes, it’s not just a job. It’s a passion. And we’re proud to share that passion with you.
